A teacher
for every

The Eduplace Cross-Subsidy Model

School Classification

Not all schools are the same.
Neither is our pricing.

South African schools are classified by the Department of Basic Education into quintiles based on the socioeconomic status of surrounding communities. Our fee model follows this classification directly.

Tier 1
No-Fee Schools
DBE Quintile 1 & 2
● FREE PLACEMENT
Poorest-served communities. State-funded schools. Eduplace places teachers at no cost — subsidised entirely by our fee-paying partners.
Tier 2
Low-Income Schools
DBE Quintile 3
● FREE PLACEMENT
Working-class communities. Nominal school fees. Placement is fully subsidised through Eduplace's cross-subsidy model.
Tier 3
Mid-Income Schools
DBE Quintile 4 & 5
● REDUCED FEE
Higher-income public schools. Some school fees charged. Placement at a reduced rate — partial revenue contributes to the pro bono fund.
Tier 4
Private Schools
Independent / Private
● FULL FEE
Fully self-funded private schools. Standard placement fee applies. Revenue directly subsidises free placements at Tier 1 & 2 schools.
Tier 5
Premium Independent
Elite Independent Schools
● PREMIUM FEE
Historically affluent, premium-brand schools. Premium placement fee. Largest single contributor to Eduplace's social impact fund.

Pro Bono Programme

If your school
cannot afford it,
we still help.

No school should go without a qualified teacher because they cannot afford a recruitment fee. Our pro bono programme exists to change that — and it is funded by the schools that can afford it.

  • Fully vetted, qualified teacher candidates
  • CV review, Loom video, and reference checks included
  • No invoice, no hidden costs, no conditions
  • Dedicated support from your Eduplace recruiter
  • Same quality as our fee-paying service

Who qualifies for a free placement?
